Canada is the second largest export market for U.S fishery products and exports reached a record value of $1 billion in 2016, increasing 11.5% from 2015 and representing 20% of total U.S. exports of fishery products. Combined U.S. agricultural, fishery and forestry product exports to Canada were $23.8 billion. Canada relies heavily on imported food products due to its limited growing season; therefore the Canadian market relies on the U.S. for increased varieties of seafood.
