Globalization is taking over the business world and because of this successful businesses need to maintain a globally-focused perspective. Here are a few things to consider:
96% of world’s consumers live outside U.S.
70% of purchasing power is outside the U.S.
If you are not exporting, your competitors likely are.
FTAs, the Internet, and government programs aid potential exporters.
TNTrade is a statewide initiative intended to help achieve Governor Haslam's goal of making Tennessee first in the Southeast for high quality jobs by boosting exports from small- and medium-sized businesses. Exporting companies grow faster and hire more workers than non-exporting companies, but less than 2% of Tennessee businesses are exporters.
During the last decade, Tennessee’s total export volume has more than tripled. Over 7,100 Tennessee businesses sold more than $33 billion worth of Tennessee products around the world in 2014, contributing to more than 159,000 jobs in Tennessee.
A growing number of Tennessee businesses are taking part in exporting and boosting their companies’ successes, stability and profits. Tennessee’s small businesses have succeeded in making Tennessee the 8th largest exporter in the United States.
